The committee — what it is and isn't

A small group of residents who help run Sukkan editorially, escalate issues, and welcome new members. Not a legal Owners Committee.

Sukkan has an internal committee — a small group of residents who keep the lights on. This isn't the legal "Owners Committee" defined under Dubai property law (that's a separate thing, run inside each individual building under Law No. 6 of 2019).

What the Sukkan committee does

  • Reviews community reports and escalates patterns to the right authorities.
  • Edits and fact-checks news articles before they publish.
  • Approves new sub-communities and category additions.
  • Maintains the FAQ — adding answers, retiring outdated ones.
  • Welcomes new members and helps with onboarding.

What it doesn't do

  • Doesn't represent residents legally — for that, use your building's RERA-registered Owners Committee.
  • Doesn't speak to developers on your behalf without your consent.
  • Doesn't make money. Members are residents, unpaid.

Joining

The committee grows by invitation as the platform grows. If you'd like to contribute — writing area guides, fact-checking, helping moderate community threads — write to the editor. We're always looking for help, especially from owners who know their building's quirks.
